This summer I’ve been working at a snail’s pace on the cut of En Route. During this time we’ve been accumulating even more material to fill in the gaps in the edit. Last week, Yotam Dor, my producer and main actor of the film, was able to get into a real live cockpit and shot some footage for the film!

Check out some of these beautiful stills, which have now found a place in the edit:

ER_still14
ER_still13
ER_still30
ER_still29
ER_still31

All shot with a Canon 5D Mark II. Looking forward to posting the trailer as soon as we have some completed VFX! The team is making awesome progress.

Very beautiful footage. Have you color corrected the stills or is that raw?

  2. Colin Levy, October 3, 2009:

Thanks Ben! Only the second image out the window is color corrected.

Pictures look really well done! The one with the glowing buttons and DOF remind me of the Death Star scene in Star Wars for some reason…quick question; This short is 4k right? How are you planning to mix the HD footage of Canon 5D Mark 2, or are those just random stills?

Dude i have been following your work for a quite few years now, why does it take you so long to post new stuff?

  5. Colin Levy, October 7, 2009:

@Sullivan: Mainly because I’m lazy! No, haha, I’m very busy and I really would love to post more stuff. I’ve been doing a lot that I haven’t got the time to upload to my blog! :( But I’ll make an effort to post more often.

@Chad: Thanks! Yes, we shot the film in 4k, but we’re finaling to 2k. So hopefully there shouldn’t be a huge problem with mixing in the 5D material with RED stuff. It totally seems to work in the edit, and I think we can get away with a lot because of the style of the film.

I am just chomping at the bit to see this short man! Everytime I visit your site, I have to make myself forget about it so that I don’t come here all the time looking for updates on the short film :)

In all seriousness, I really like your work, so keep at it! I’ve always really been into creating short films and the like. I’ve become quite versed in After Effects and Premiere Pro etc. for my short films (and for practice) so maybe I’ll volunteer for one of your future short films if I get the chance.

    Thanks!

When comes the trailer? I’m waiting so long… :(

  10. Chad, March 1, 2010:

Hmm, interesting idea with the mixing of the footage. Hey, I ran into the short film that you had helped on with the dust storm in the desert on vimeo. I told the director there that I spotted your work from a post you had on your site! I guess he filmed it in Mexico? I’ll soon be moving to the Arizona area myself; between transit of L.A. and Scottsdale. What were some of locations in Georgia that you ended up filming at? Is that airport a municipal runway or a commercial transit of airliners?

Great work man I love the stills and I am definitely a supporter of this film.
