A little about me
My name is Colin Levy. I'm halfway between two and three decades old, and I'm really passionate about my work. I studied film and animation at The Savannah College of Art and Design, and I am currently working at Pixar Animation Studios as a Camera & Staging Artist. A few years ago I had the opportunity to work in Amsterdam on the third Blender Open Movie called "Sintel," which now has nearly 4 million views on YouTube!
The snobby version
Colin Levy is a filmmaker from Lutherville, Maryland. At age of 19, his highschool short film earned him a YoungArts Award, presented in New York City by Martin Scorsese. At 20, he won a production grant to shoot a 50-second spot on 35mm as a finalist in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker Awards. At 21, he was invited to Amsterdam to direct an independent animated short film for the Blender Institute called SINTEL, which won the Audience Award at the Animayo International Film Festival in Spain, and now has over 3 million views on YouTube. His live-action short EN ROUTE won the Tribute Magazine Award for Best Director at the YoungCuts Film Festival, and his senior film THE SECRET NUMBER won the Jury Award for Best Short at the Charleston International Film Festival. The culmination of his work has recently led to an opportunity at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California, where he is currently working as a Camera & Staging Artist on Monsters University.

Currently a 3D generalist, with an interest in character animation. I've gained a relatively thorough understanding of modeling, shading, lighting, rigging and rendering. I am currently exploring animation with stock rigs and a few original characters, and have done limited experimentation with traditional animation as well.
Advanced knowledge of the concepts and techniques involved in compositing. Technically proficient with keying, rotoscoping, matchmoving, and compositing with render layers/passes. Extremely comfortable with After Effects. Intermediate knowledge of particle systems and raytracing.
I have been editing my own film projects since I was in middle school, and I have witnessed myself improve drastically. I have developed a sense for storytelling and visual communication; I am constantly reexamining my filmmaking and editing sensibilities. I have become familiar with various production workflows and the more technical side of the craft.
In addition to editing, I have gained a certain amount of experience with color correction and title design.
